SID SMITH
Co-Founding Partner
Sid is a general partner of the firm. He is an accomplished senior executive, entrepreneur, attorney, and board member with nearly 30 years of experience in a range of sectors.
Sid founded his own law firm, SRS Counsel PLLC, which provided general counsel services to Syncom Venture Partners, a leading Black owned venture firm, and to the National Association of Investment Companies, the leading trade association for investors in ethnically diverse companies. Prior to that, he practiced at the law firms of K&L Gates LLP as a partner in the corporate and securities group, and Cooley LLP, as a senior associate.
Sid’s entrepreneurial pursuits include co-founding Discourse Analytics, Inc., a data analytics company launched in 2011. His civic activities include being a founding board member and a fellow of Pahara Institute, a national organization that identifies, strengthens, and sustains diverse leaders in public education. Sid also serves as vice board chair of Alder Graduate School of Education.
Sid holds a BA in English from Yale University and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Sid and his wife live in the Washington, DC metro area where they met playing “pick-up” basketball, while their two children had escaped to college on the West Coast.
