DAVID DUCKENFIELD

Marketing Advisor

David Duckenfield is a marketing advisor to non sibi where he manages the firm's marketing and public relations efforts as well as working with the fund's portfolio companies.

Duckenfield has over 25 years of experience in public diplomacy, corporate and marketing communications, brand building, crisis communications, and public policy.  

Between 2014 and 2016, Duckenfield was a senior official in the Obama Administration, where he served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Public Affairs.

He has a particular expertise in Latin America and marketing to multicultural audiences in the U.S.  Over the course of his professional career, Duckenfield has led marketing and PR efforts at the National Basketball and Yahoo! during their respective expansions into Latin America.  

Duckenfield is currently a partner at Balsera Communications, a leading national public affairs and strategic communications firm that focuses on technology and non-profit communications, where he has managed the communications for several start-ups through their various stages of fundraising and growth. 

He began his professional career as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer in Mexico City and Bogota, Colombia, where he received the U.S. State Department’s Meritorious Honor Award.

His professional associations include Board of Trustee member at the Ransom Everglades School in Coconut Grove, FL, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a Board of Visitors member at the Rockefeller Center for Public Policy at Dartmouth College. 

Duckenfield obtained a MA in Latin American Studies and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies; earned a BA in History from Dartmouth College; and graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts.

He is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese.
